Volunteers - Peeps - HIE Awareness & Support

Volunteering with Peeps

People volunteer with Peeps for a number of reasons, mainly give something back to a community that has helped them or loved ones through difficult times.

Volunteers can help out in a number of ways – you may consider joining our team if you:

  • have experienced or understand HIE (yourself, family, friend or colleague).
  • have a strong ability to listen and support others.
  • have the enthusiasm to get involved and work with our passionate support group.
  • have a little time to dedicate to making a difference to the lives of others.

There are lots of roles available to suit your experience and other commitments:

"You've got a really tight support team wrapped around you: an occupational therapist, speech therapist, physiotherapist, she would have a physio at nursery, she would have one-to-one three days a week at nursery, all of that suddenly stopped"

This is so important. In many ways it feels like life is getting back to “normal”, but many of our families are still shielding, away from their usual support networks, and doing their absolute best in challenging circumstances. Let’s not forget 💖

As the shielding guidance relaxes for many, we urge the Government not to forget seriously ill children and their families (many of whom will remain on the shielded patient list) simply because they are small in number and less visible in society: https://t.co/aznL1LDQZv
