Dedicated support for families facing loss after H.I.E.
Peeps support anyone affected by H.I.E. Sadly, there are times when the H.I.E event results in the death of a child. This is one of the most traumatic experiences a parent can face, and it often feels like they have lost a part of themselves. “It’s a massive amount of sadness. I can compare it with when you have a leg amputated but you still feel the leg”. H.I.E. Mum.
We also understand that children can grieve as deeply as adults but will show & communicate this in very different ways. The support they need will depend on their age and understanding.
Whilst we cannot change the outcome of the H.I.E. event, we know the difference the right support can make in processing what has happened and finding a way to live with the grief. It is very important to us that all our HIEroes are acknowledged and remembered.
“The impact of care received by women and families around the time of the loss of their baby (babies) can have profound short and long term affects on their wellbeing” Heazell et al 2016.
