A world first…trials in Cooling in Mild H.I.E. (COMET)

Yesterday Peeps attended the launch of the COMET trial in London. This trial will look at whether there are benefits to cooling (therapeutic hypothermia) for babies who have a diagnosis of mild H.I.E.

Up to now, cooling has been a recognised treatment for those with moderate to severe H.I.E. This has been based on results of the TOBY study back in 2008. We have the research teams to thank for the trials and the families to thank for taking part, paving the way for groundbreaking treatment.

It’s exciting to see this progress that could have a huge impact on so many more families.

Peeps is taking part to help share family experiences and amplify parent voices. If you’d like to find to more please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
