H.I.E. Awareness Day will soon be here!

H.I.E. stands for Hypoxic-Ischaemic Encephalopathy – a lack of oxygen to the brain of an infant that can cause injury. H.I.E. happens in around 3-4 of every 1000 births, yet it isn’t talked about enough. We want to change that.

Many H.I.E. events occur before or during labour, but it can also happen post-delivery and in older children.

There are lots of different causes and outcomes, which can impact both the child and their family.

Peeps is the only UK charity dedicated to H.I.E. We provide emotional, practical and financial support to anyone who has been touched by H.I.E.

You can help!

The 4th April is H.I.E. Awareness Day – to be part of it:

1. Grab a postcard (you can download or ask us to post one or lots out!)

2. Hold it up and take a selfie (or get someone to take a snap)

3. Post on Facebook / Twitter / Instagram with #HeardOfHIE

If you’d like to, add in your story, and why you have #HeardOfHIE

4. Encourage as many people as possible to get involved – pass it on!

5. Sit back and relax, knowing you’ve done your bit in raising awareness
