Making a difference…
One of our mums has kindly shared some feedback after we sourced and funded some specialised counselling for her. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, and a brilliant grant from The National Lottery Community Fund, we are able to reach and help more families. It goes to show the difference a little support can make.
HIE can affect people in different ways and at different times. There are no rights or wrongs, no comparisons and no judging. If you’re finding things tough and would benefit from a helping hand, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
“I had been struggling with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) for almost 2 years following a traumatic birth. I had tried almost every avenue with the NHS for EMDR therapy. This was after hearing from so many other HIE mums and dad’s how helpful they’d found it.
When coronavirus happened I’d almost given up. The lockdown was really amplifying my flashbacks. I saw a post on Peeps Facebook about therapy funding and I messaged straight away. I’d applied to other charities for equipment for my daughter but never thought to apply for help for me.
Sarah was so kind and within a week my first session took place. I’m now almost at the end of the therapy. This morning was the first time I’ve woken up from sleep and remembered a “normal” dream. I can’t thank Peeps enough for the help and just being genuinely nice people who care.
I hope I can give something back to them one day when times are easier. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
