Maternity Safety Alliance

The Maternity Safety Alliance is calling for a national public inquiry on maternity safety.

It’s heartbreaking to hear when a baby has died, and even more so if it was due to care that was below standard.

It’s also important to acknowledge that there are families who have been impacted where their baby has survived; some may have a significant brain injury and medical complications; some may struggle coming to terms with the trauma. These families may not always feel able to speak up, for many reasons such as ongoing legal cases, fear of being questioned if they do take legal action, not knowing how to, feeling that they shouldn’t complain, especially knowing that not all babies survive, to name a few. All these feelings are valid, and everyone matters.

We understand that some, not all, H.I.E. events are avoidable. We’re not here to judge or look to blame, but we are here to offer support and raise awareness.

There’s a lot in the media at the moment, and it’s ok if you need to step away for a little while.
